Harvesting Creativity

Updated: Jan 23, 2020

What does it mean to be creative? How can we be more creative in our lives?

Creativity is not limited to artists and designers. It is way to think about everyday life and tackle challenges of all sizes.

I learned in a workshop, focusing on The Five Faces of Genius: Creative Thinking Styles to Succeed at Work by Annette Moser-Wellman, that often in teams, the Accountant is amongst the most creative thinkers – as dealing with numbers requires an extremely creative thought process.

This fascinated me, and has had me challenging the way I think about creativity.

But how can we foster more creativity in the way we think and face challenges?

According to the documentary The Creative Brain the key is:

  1. Try Something New – getting off the path of least resistance challenges our brain to think in new patterns.

  2. Push Boundaries – keeping the balance between the familiar and new, in order to not become overwhelmed.

  3. Don’t Be Afraid Of Failure – it's inevitable! So look for support where you need it and dare to fail. (loads of books and documentaries on this topic alone)

If you're facing a challenge, at work or in your private life, a coach might be the right support you need. Let's set up a quick chat to find out how I can help!
